Join us as we STAND UP for our fREADom to read, write and learn!
Earlier this month, Dr. Carla Hayden was fired from her position at the Library of Congress, along with Sherla Perlmutter, who headed the Copyright Office, which has left our nation's largest research library and collection of intellectual property in a dangerous state of limbo.
It feels urgent for us, as citizens, to gather and plan together how to respond to this attack on our freedom to read, write and learn. So, Kwame is bringing together some smart folks to speak out about what intellectual freedom - the freedom to read, write and learn - means to us personally and colllectively. And we'll work together to form an action plan to stand up for these freedoms.
Speakers will include Jason Reynolds, Ibram X. Kendi, Meg Medina, Amanda Jones, Tracie D. Hall and Kwame Alexander, with more to be announced.
Our wonderful partners include the DC Public Library, NEA, The Freedom to Read, ALA, The Hurston/Wright Foundation, and more.
If you're unable to join us in person, please watch online.
